We came to the Fontevraud Abbey for an academic seminar, in which M. Nokturnal was taking part. Two days of beautiful and interesting contributions of some famous figures of our best Universities in Philosophy, History, Law and Litterature, around a common theme. Since it was a private event, I won't say more about it, but it has been like an intellectual breath into my daily life, full of a work where I am permanently focusing on extremely concrete financial situations.
Let's say I have some beautiful responsabilities I can't deny, and that are extremely rewarded on the work market, but... it doesn't feed my need for abstraction!
Anyway, the seminar was taking place in this fantastic Abbey, that has a long time history, from the Middle Age to nowadays, time when it returned to the State who transformed it into a cultural center for artists, and a touristic place. All in between, it has also been turned into a prison, around the XIXth century.
I was just fascinated by the light on the first morning we came in... It is not sad at all: this beautiful white stone also has some beige accents that are really warm.
Under each light, I saw some new aspects of the place! I was overwhelmed by the peaceful atmosphere...
Strictly no postface work on this pic, like on most of the pictures in this post. I just had a few fiters on three of them, to had a more nostalgic atmosphere, but that's all. Because I wanted to share this luminous atmosphere I encountered by visiting the abbey, and that you can see on all the previous pics.
As you may already know, I like detail pics :)
Flowers were in blossoms, and added a gentle touch to the historic ensemble.
The graves from some Plantagenet, royal family:
The place where we were resting during the 3 days (6 km from the Abbey), so peaceful:
Let's wish we will come back! :)
This is the website of the Abbey, they organize a lot of art exhibitions, and some concerts in the warm nights of summer... Please taka a look at their program! :)
